Ruby on Rails Engineer

About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our partner companies, many of them YC-backed startups and scale-ups whose core product runs on Rails. Rails talent has become scarce in the US, which makes experienced Rails engineers in Latin America some of the most requested profiles we place. You'll own features end to end, from data model to Hotwire views, and keep a large codebase healthy as it scales.

What You'll Do

• Build product features end to end in Rails: models, jobs, APIs, and views
• Keep a large Rails monolith healthy: upgrades, performance, test suite speed
• Design background job pipelines with Sidekiq and reliable retries
• Build modern frontends with Hotwire (Turbo, Stimulus) or React
• Write clear PRs, review others' code, and document decisions
• Work directly with US product and engineering leads

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Ruby on Rails development
• Deep knowledge of ActiveRecord, PostgreSQL, and query optimization
• Experience with Sidekiq, Redis, and background processing
• Strong testing discipline with RSpec or Minitest
• Comfortable with Heroku, AWS, or containerized deployments
• Excellent written and verbal English (B2+)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Hotwire, ViewComponent, or Inertia
• Experience upgrading major Rails versions on large apps
• Background in marketplaces, fintech, or subscription billing (Stripe)
• Contributions to Ruby gems or Rails itself
